$80M Land Sale on Metro Phoenix's Western Edge Could Bring 40K Homes on Stalled Tartesso Development

A California investor has purchased more than 10,000 acres of land on metro Phoenix's western edge

Metro Phoenix's homebuilding market is rebounding, and developers are buying land again. The Tartesso deal is one of the biggest and priciest Valley land deals to close in a decade. Development has restarted in Tartesso. Homebuilder D.R. Horton is about to open a new subdivision in the community. Information on Dolphin Partners' plans for the huge project aren't yet available.

Arizona’s Unemployment Rate Up; Healthy Year-over-Year Job Gains

Despite an uptick in the Arizona unemployment rate to 6 percent from 5.8 percent in June, Arizona gained 76,100 jobs year over year, according to the Arizona Department of Administration.

The month-over-month job loss is seasonally normal, and the nearly 15,000 jobs lost in July was less than the post-recession average of 23,500 jobs per month. Arizona’s unemployment rate was also 6 percent in July 2015.

State Farm Looking to Hire 450 Employees Across Phoenix

The insurance company, which is opening new regional headquarters on Tempe Town Lake next year, is looking for claims professionals, sales professionals and IT department employees.
